On July the 25th the Keep Kicking team headed down to Berkshire for a fun filled weekend visiting our fillies and experiencing the buzz of the busy training grounds in Lambourn.
We arrived at Clive Cox's yard at 10am Friday morning to pastries, coffee and friendly faces. After an excellent tour of the yard and an opportunity to watch a lot gallop with Clive we were given the chance to see our first winner Vaunted, who was having a few quiet days after her most recent run. She looked incredibly well and it was fantastic to talk to the tremendous staff who care so deeply, not just her, but all the horses in the yard. A big thank you must go to Kat and jockey Liam Keniry who provide excellent feedback and always have to time to speak to us.
The morning was followed by supper in the Queens Pub where the syndicate planned the future of Vaunted and where we might like to head next. Great fun was had by all.
The Saturday morning was Tom's turn to host as the 15 strong army of Keep Kicking enthusiasts turned up at his stables armed with questions and cameras. We were extremely lucky to have an in depth tour of the yard and be given the chance to see Brave Lily gallop, she put her best foot forward and did a nice piece of work prompting Tom to consider a racecourse debut in the forthcoming weeks. Lunch at our sponsors The Pheasant pub followed, with Tom and Alex Ward attending and being brilliant to answer all questions no matter how silly.
A fantastic, insightful weekend and a big thank you to the excellent teams who look after the fillies so well.
